"Lenka Lichtenberg is a Canadian musician, composer, and producer who draws on the rich, intercultural Toronto soundscapes she has long immersed herself in, to create her own unique global sound. With her striking, crystalline voice leading the way, the 2023 JUNO Award, Canadian Folk Music and International Independent Music Award winner aspires to build bridges among cultures and transcend the artificial boundaries between folk, jazz and world music in a passionate and often deeply spiritual celebration of her roots. Since relocating to Toronto after spending her early days as a notable child star in her native Prague, the multilingual vocalist has been a prolific collaborator and has also released seven albums of her own. Two of her outings were released worldwide on the U.K.’s ARC Music label. Lenka’s latest project is ‘Thieves of Dreams,’ based on poems she recently unearthed that were written by her grandmother while she was imprisoned in the Theresienstadt concentration camp during World War 2. The album, JUNO Award winner for Global Music Album of the Year, is distributed by Six Degrees worldwide, and by Supraphon in the Czech Republic."

"Lida Penkova's journey is a tapestry woven with threads of resilience, creativity, and cultural exploration. Born and raised in Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic, her life took a dramatic turn when her homeland was invaded and occupied by the Soviet Union military in 1968. In response, she courageously embarked on a path of emigration, seeking solace and opportunity in England. Fueled by a passion for understanding the intricacies of human expression, Lida pursued studies in both the history of art in London and psychology in Germany. Her thirst for knowledge and adventure led her across continents, eventually bringing her to the vibrant tapestry of Mexico in the early 1980s. It was here, amidst the rich cultural mosaic and kaleidoscope of traditions, that Lida found herself captivated by the country's allure, ultimately deciding to call it home for over 16 years.

During her time in Mexico, Lida's artistic sensibilities were profoundly shaped by the tapestry of indigenous cultures and their intricate artistic expressions. Inspired by the craftsmanship of aboriginal artists from Australia, the storytelling traditions of the Inuit people, the vibrant hues of Mexican bark painters, and the intricate beauty of ancient Indian miniature painters, Lida found herself immersed in a world where myth, fantasy, and everyday reality intertwined seamlessly. In her own artistic endeavors, Lida channels this rich tapestry of influences, dedicating her work to creating magical spaces and telling stories through textures and colors. Her preferred mediums include hand-colored and black-and-white linocuts, as well as painting on canvas, often incorporating fabrics to add depth and dimension to her creations.

Today, Lida's artwork can be found adorning the walls of private collections spanning Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Each piece is a testament to her lifelong journey of cultural exploration and artistic expression, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the enchanting worlds she brings to life on canvas.

For those interested in acquiring prints or originals of Lida's work, or simply wishing to learn more about her artistic journey, she warmly welcomes inquiries via email at penkovalida@msn.com."
